Dissipated by alcohol, her career long over, Helen Twelvetrees committed suicide at age 49, in 1958. Her son would have been 26 by then.
Young Jack Woody is now the editor of Twelvetrees Press, which this year (2010) issued a lavish, $250 limited edition book of portraits of old-time movie stars, called LOST HOLLYWOOD:

Do a search for "Helen Twelvetrees" on Flickr, and you get 90 hits. Here’s another shot that shows her in New South Wales. She went to Australia to make a movie (mere piffle, really), and she was mobbed there:
